Wellness & Weightloss

Exercise, dieting, and weight loss are important components of overall wellness. At Peachwood, many of our healthcare providers emphasize staying healthy through patient education, and controlling diet and exercise habits. Consider the following statistics:
  • The costs of obesity are projected to soon hit $100 billion per year in the United States.
  • At least one out of every two people in America is overweight.
  • Obesity is second only to smoking as a risk factor for causing disease
  • Overweight people are three times more likely to develop hypertension and diabetes.
  • Excess body fat increases the risk of several cancers, such as cancer of the colon, breast, rectum, and gall bladder.

Weight control is clearly a significant part of wellness, and is often times difficult to succeed without support. Permanent lifestyle habits that emphasize a patient’s knowledge of improved nutrition, and increased exercise are crucial components to the battle of wellness.
For these reasons Peachwood Medical Group has a dietitian on staff who works to aid patients in understanding the principles of good nutrition as well as implementing them into their daily lives. Amber Bryant RD obtained a degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Fresno State University in 2003. Since then she has worked in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Amber offers a weight loss program that consists of personalized menu plans, a variety of recipes and meal ideas, strategies for overcoming emotional eating, ordering guides for eating out as well as individualized education and goal setting. She does not require a doctor's referral for most conditions and is available by appointment to help you meet your wellness goals.
Our team of physicians are committed to working with you to achieve an ideal level of wellness for your life. To find out more about the Wellness services at Peachwood Medical Group, or how to meet with our trained dietician, please contact us by email or call us at (559) 324-6220.
